All training will be provided so no previous sailing experience is necessary. The first set of ambassadors which sailed under the flag of Zhuhai on the Clipper 2019-20 Race ranged from a student, to IT professional, a teacher to tourism manager and experienced extreme heat and freezing cold, and battled huge waves and storms. Zhuhai is looking for people who are willing to push themselves out of their comfort zone and experience something few people ever will.

The Clipper Race was named as ‘Clipper’, which literally means a fast sail boat, as the Clipper Race Crew enjoy the thrill of sailing fast as they race around the globe.

Clipper 2023-24 Race is estimated to start from the UK in late August 2023, arrive at Zhuhai in March 2024, and return to the UK in July 2024. Any Chinese citizen above the age 18 who would love to sail, has a heart for adventures, is a team player and has a strong will to represent Zhuhai is welcomed to apply! Successful candidates will have the opportunity to sail one of the eight legs, or circumnavigate around the world, visiting up to 16 ports covering forty thousand nautical miles.

HOW MANY TO RECRUITZhuhai is looking to recruit 16 ambassadors (two ambassadors to compete on each of the 8 legs) plus 2 reserves. For the right candidates, there may also be the opportunity for one person to complete the full eleven months circumnavigation.
Are you a professional journalist, videographer or photographer? There is also the opportunity to apply to capture the action as a Media Berther. Please specify this in your application.

6、媒体船员还需具备出色的摄影、图片及视频拍摄功底和新闻稿件写作能力。
REQUIREMENTS
Any Chinese above the age of 18, male or female, needs to meet the requirements below:
1. loves Zhuhai, and be a responsible advocate of Zhuhai city;
2. loves sailing or wants to learn to sail-be in a good state of health and fitness, and a good swimmer;
3. has an optimal spirit and attitude, open characters, and a strong team spirit
4. has strong English communication skills, both verbal and interactive;
5. be financially sufficient to support yourself with international travels and VISA applications;
6. Media berther needs to have an exceptional skill of photograhing, filming and writing news stories.

Shortlisted candidates will need to attend the selection/trial which takes three days from May 16 to May18, 2023.
1. Trial content includes: written test, interviews, public presentation, sea trials, team build tests, etc. All of this will be carried out in an English communication environment.
2. For successful candidates:
- You will need to sign Clipper 2023-24 Race Crew Contract with Zhuhai Jiuzhou Navigation Culture.
- You will need to go to the UK for compulsory training courses, after completing the training courses successfully, then you will be qualified to represent Zhuhai to join in Clipper 2023-24 Race.
Successful candidates will need to travel to the UK in June/July 2023 to finish the four-week long compulsory training, and need to allow eight weeks for completing a single leg.

2. The UK training for that will be paid by the race organizing committees. International VISA applications, insurances and other expenses will be paid by candidates themselves.
3. When doing the legs in Clipper 2023-2024 Race, ambassador crew's international travels will not be paid by the race organizing committees. (including the Chinese domestic ones, and those inside the race start countries). International VISA applications, insurances and other expenses will be paid by ambassador crew themselves.
