Youth America’s Cup – Entry Memorandum – China 2020 & Auckland 2021
The RNZYS is the current Trustee of the America’s Cup. As the Trustee, the RNZYS intends to run a Youth America’s Cup during the America’s Cup 36th period February – March 2021. This will be a multi-leg event with a seeding Youth America’s Cup regatta held in China in November 2020 prior to an Auckland event in 2021.
The RNZYS intend to run this edition of the regatta in a similar manner to which the “Deed of Gift” operates in the the America’s Cup Match. As such it is a friendly competition between clubs of all nations.
Yacht Clubs of all nations are now invited to challenge for the 2021 Youth America’s Cup.
The regatta will be a fleet racing and match racing regatta format in the waters of China and Auckland, New Zealand.

The purpose of this Memorandum is to provide details for the filing of a Notice of Challenge and the payment of the entry fees during the expression of interest / entry period.
1. Notice of Challenge
1.1 Please complete a Notice of Challenge following the format provided:
1.2 Submit the completed Notice of Challenge together with copies of all supporting documents to RNZYS at the following email addresses: To: challenger@youthamericascup.comCc: hporter@rnzys.org.nz

2. Acknowledgement and Acceptance of Notices of Challenge2.1 Notices of Challenge will be examined and considered for acceptance in the order of the time of their receipt at the RNZYS email address specified in 1.2 above. This shall establish the order of priority for the acceptance of challenges.
2.2 From the time a Notice of Challenge is received from a yacht club wishing to challenge, communications from RNZYS to that yacht club will be made from its representative.
2.3 Upon receipt of a Notice of Challenge by email, RNZYS will confirm acceptance by email and advise that the Notice of Challenge and documents will be examined for compliance as soon as practicable or within 14 days of the closing of the initial entry period.
2.4 The initial entry period will be between the date of this Memorandum and the 28th of February 2020.
2.5 The RNZYS may at its discretion accept further challenges for the Youth America’s Cup after the close of the initial entry period. Entries from 1 March 2020 until 30 September 2020 will be considered late entries.
2.6 After completing the examination of a Notice of Challenge and the supporting documents, RNZYS shall then advise the acceptance or refusal of the Notice of Challenge. It may also choose to make a public announcement with the challenging yacht club. The acceptance will be displayed on the Youth America’s Cup website in the entries section from that point.
3. Entry Fees 3.1 The Entry fee for the 2021 Youth America’s Cup is NZD $115,000 and a refundable damage deposit of NZD$25,000.
A first payment (entry bond) of NZD$11,500 is required within ten days of acceptance of a yacht club’s challenge. A second payment of NZD $50,000 is required by 1 June 2020A final payment of NZD $53,500 is required by 1 September 2020The damage deposit of NZD$25,000 is required by 1 November 2020
Late entries per 2.5 will incur a further NZD$25,000 fee making the total fee NZD$140,000 + the damage deposit. At its sole discretion, the RNZYS may alter the amount of the Late Entry fee. The schedule of payments is to be followed with any outstanding amount settled at entry or prior to 1 November on agreement with the RNZYS.
The non-receipt of the funds by RNZYS within this time limit will invalidate the acceptance of the challenge. Payment made prior to acceptance of a Notice of Challenge will be accepted by RNZYS and held in escrow pending such acceptance.
If a challenge is subsequently refused, any fees already paid will be refunded in full by RNZYS as soon as practicable.
If for any reason the Youth America’s Cup did not proceed all funds received are 100% refundable by the RNZYS.

4. Entry Fee InclusionsEntry to the 2021 Youth America’s Cup events.Use of the AC9F yacht supplied for the duration of the regatta per the NOR.Training period on the AC9F as specified by the RNZYS – 5 x 2hr training / licensing sessions.Entry passes for up to 10 delegates to all off water events specific to the Youth America’s Cup.
5. Entry Fee ExclusionsMedical, accident, third party and personal liability insurance per NOR.1 x Un-branded same design JIB for the AC9F.Branding of JIB in line with the specifications that will be provided.Coach RIB hire if required.Additional training or licensing periods required.Other Team costs.
6. TeamsTeams will be from a Yacht Club as outlined in 1.1.Teams will be 2 Males and 2 Females.Weight limit is 280-311kg.Not less than 3 of the 4 crewmembers on board the yacht at any one time must hold the passport of that club's nation that they are representing.Multiple teams from any nation may be accepted.Age 18-24 (over 18 by 1 November 2020 and under 25 by 12 March 2021).
